Pink Box with Roses Cake

A friend of mine saw my Blue Jewelry Gift Box Cake and wanted something similar but in pink. I decided to change it all up while keeping the integrity of the box. The result is a lovely cake which got a lot of positive reviews.

The cake is a 10 inch square French Vanilla Sponge frosted with Vanilla Buttercream. All the designs on the cake were done with marshmallow fondant.

Unlike the Blue Jewelry Box cake which had a white bow topper, I decided to make a loop bow topper for this cake. I went with purple and white ribbons to give some contrast with the pink.

The bottom part of the box has a diamond pattern design embedded with cream sugar pearls.

The box is stuffed with 5 plump stained white roses. A tutorial on how to make these roses can be found here. I decided to add some red rose buds to fill up the gaps and they in turn added a lot of life to the cake. It was a bit of a challenge getting the box lid which is also a cake to sit on the roses and slant towards the back of the cake. The challenge was in ensuring that the lid did not place a lot of pressure on the back of the cake, thus messing up the fondant work. I was able to provide the needed support with a few skewers.

I also made a draped cake board embedded with white roses and pearls which worked very well with the cake. To find a detailed tutorial on how I drape my cake boards, click here.

I foresee this box cake going through a lot of modifications in future.
