A very close friend of mine who is an MC wanted a special cake for her birthday. There was to be a microphone and headphones. The design concept was left to me. I decided to go with a dancehall theme and created a metallic cake which featured silhouettes of dancers digging it out. The cake was a success and the celebrant was wowed.

The cake is a 2 tier hexagon. The top tier is red velvet cake and the bottom tier is carrot cake. Both cakes are frosted with cream cheese. All the design work on the cake was done with marshmallow fondant.

A tutorial on how the fondant headphones were made can be found here. I was really happy about how they turned out. They looked so real that I almost grabbed them by mistake once when I was going out for a jog.
