This is a cake I made for a Christmas party. The couple had just moved into a new house and the person who ordered it wanted something to symbolize that move. After playing with a few ideas, I decided to go with a house in winter. This is the first house cake I am making and I’m very pleased with the way it turned out.

The cake within the house is an 8 inch pound cake frosted with vanilla buttercream.

The house and all the other designs on the cake were done with marshmallow fondant. This is one cake I made using fondant panels.  My greatest challenge was knowing where to place the snow on the building. But somehow, it all worked out well. A tutorial on how this cake was made cane be found here.

On the right side of the house is a conifer tree capped with snow. A tutorial on how to make this fondant tree can be found here.
