Talk about cupcakes with an edge! This is a trendy way of making cupcakes. They look so good, its almost impossible to eat them. I was asked by a close friend of mine to make these cupcakes for a family function she was attending. The color scheme was black and white with a touch of gold. I was somewhat nervous about making these beauties at first because they look quite intimidating. However, with some research and know-how, I was able to pull it off.

In this case, I made vanilla cupcakes in black and white cupcake liners. The cupcakes were frosted with black and white vanilla buttercream which was pipped with a Wilton 1M pipping tip. Black and white sugar pearls were later used to decorate the buttercream and a gold flower made white marshmallow fondant was placed on top. The soles of the shoes were made with homemade sugar cookies which were flooded with royal icing and the edges piped with vanilla buttercream. These soles can also be made with store bought wafers. The heels were made with store bought rolled wafers. They can also be made with fondant. The elements were glued together with royal icing. I feel white chocolate will however be a better gluing medium.
