(2) Roll out the rest of the fondant and cut out leaves using your fondant leaf cutter. Be sure to impress the cutter into the fondant so the leaf veins show.

(3) Brush the fondant cone with water. Starting from the bottom of the cone, stick the leaves on it in rows all the way to the top of the cone.

(5) Using your paint brush (or toothpick), lift the edges of the leaves so they spread out.

(6) Leave the tree to dry before brushing it with some vodka to remove the icing sugar residue.

END NOTES:

(1) If you want to make a tree in winter, do not brush off the icing sugar residue. In addition, cap the tree with some white fondant to act as snow.

BONUS TUTORIAL:

To add texture to your cake board, use a small fondant crimper or pearl sugar picker to make patterns on the fondant after covering the cake board with fondant.

Do you add any Tylo powder or cmc to your fondant to prevent it from cracking especially when making roses and drapping the Princess dress

  3. Bisi says:

Thanks Terry but I have heard that the fondant would crack and wouldn’t stay the shape you want it if you don’t use sugarpaste for things like roses, flowers, 3D shapes etc
