Football Cakes

As a Nigerian, its hard to ignore football. Nigerians eat, drink and sleep football, and by Nigerians I mean all Nigerians aside from myself. Yes, I’m a rebel. I have however had the opportunity of making several football themed cakes. Two of these cakes are football field cakes made in 9 by 13 inch rectangular cakes.

The first cake was for an FC Barcelona Football Club fan. I decided to go with a football field, and to make the fan happy, I placed the logo of the club in the middle of the field. I am told he grinned from ear to ear when he saw it.

The second cake was for an upcoming football fan. It was for a 5 year old young man who I think was yet to affiliate himself with any club. I made a similar cake as the first one but decided to use lighter shades of green to appeal more to the 5 year old. I also threw in some stars and blings for good measure.

I wonder what other sports would inspire my next sports themed cake. Table Tennis maybe. Dancing? Dancing is a sport….right?
