Beer Bottle Cap Cake (Star Lager Beer Cake)
One beautiful thing about cake decorating is that it affords you the opportunity of creating unconventional cakes. I love making unconventional cakes as they push my creativity. This cake was made for a friend who obviously loves his beer. When I was asked to make a beer themed cake, I pitched several options to him and the bottle cap cake was the most preferred. I was at a loss on how to execute certain elements of this cake. But in the end, it all cake together.
The cake sponge is a Nigerian style vanilla cake frosted with vanilla buttercream. All the design work was carried out with marshmallow fondant.
I had a choice of two brands of beer: Star and Heineken. Ultimately, Star Lager beer was preferred. Star lager beer is a popular brand of beer in Nigeria.
