In this tutorial, I would be showing you how to make knotted twines out of fondant. The technique is straightforward and easy to execute with the aid of one key tool: an extruder. These knotted twines were used in the designing of a wedding cake with flowered top tier. Link to this cake can be found here.

TUTORIAL:

(1) Color your fondant green and place it in an extruder fitted with a small circular disk. The trick with using an extruder is that the fondant must be very soft and in the case of homemade marshmallow fondant, still warm. If your fondant is hard, heat it in the microwave for about 6 seconds to soften it. Twist out the fondant from the extruder. Repeat this process as many times as possible until you have all the fondant “twines” that you need. Remember to work fast to the twines don’t dry out before they are looped.

(4) Use another set of twines to wrap the knot in the middle of the bow. The seam should be at the back of the bow. Seal the ends witha small round fondant disk.
