Pink Ombre Cake with Cherry Blossoms

This is a Pink Ombre Cake I made for a friend’s birthday. My aim was to make a pink cake which wasn’t “pretty” in a girly way. I decided to try my hands on an ombre design which is a design I had been longing to execute. The cake also features some lovely cherry blossoms at various stages of bloom.

The cake itself is a 2 tier 7 on 9 inch cake. The top tier is a chocolate butter cake while the bottom tier is a red velvet cake. Both cakes were frosted with cream cheese frosting. The designs on the cake were done with marshmallow fondant.

The stars of the cake are without doubt the cherry blossoms. I have a tutorial here on how these lovely flowers were made.
