Aircraft Cake
This was a cake made for a friend who is not only an amazing dad but an aircraft enthusiast. His wife wanted something special for him for Father’s day and we both agreed on making an Plane on a runway. Incidentally, I traveled by air shortly after our discussion and for the first time in my life, I studied various types of planes on the tarmac, looking for a design which I could replicate with fondant. My friend was blown away when he saw the cake.
The cake part of this piece is the runway and it was a French Vanilla Sponge frosted with Vanilla Buttercream. The designs on the cake and the whole airplane were made with Marshmallow Fondant.
The center of attraction on this cake is no doubt the Blue Aircraft with streamlined red details. I have a pictorial here on how I made the aircraft here.
I tried to replicate some of the markings I saw on the runway on the cake and every detail was greatly appreciated.
