Iconic Smiley Cake
Sometimes, all that is needed is a plain “simple” smiley face, no fuss, no designs, no nothing. I was a bit confused when this cake was ordered until I was told it was for a 70’s retro party and the smileyface was a icon in the 70s. I of course knew that if the cake was going to be very simple, it had to be perfect and perfect it was.
This is a twelve inch round French vanilla sponge cake, frosted with vanilla buttercream and covered with Marshmallow fondant.
The cake was brushed with yellow pearl dust after it was covered with fondant.
The eyes and mouth were made with black fondant.
That’s all there is to this cake which must be one of my favorite cakes to date.
