The Making of a Regal Cake

This is a tutorial on how the above regal cake with extended swirl design was made. This is actually two separate cakes which I merged together to create this look. There are several elements to this cake and I will be directing you to other tutorials on this website on how to make the several elements. For links for the recipes used for this cake, click here.

THE PROCESS:

(1) First make the floral crown. I have a tutorial here on how to make this crown.

(2) Make the top tier. I have a detailed tutorial here on how the top tier was made. The tutorial contains a lot of tips on how to make vertical fondant stripes on cakes.

(3) For the bottom tier, drape the tier with teal fondant and wrap about 3/4 of the tier with a quilt design. A tutorial on how I quilt my cakes can be found here.

(4) Make the extended swirl design on the bottom tier. A detailed tutorial on how to achieve this design can be found here.

(5) Finally stack both tiers together and place the fondant crown on the top tier.
