The Making of a Jake and the Neverland Pirates Twin Cakes

This is a tutorial on how the above Jake and the Neverland Pirates Twin Cakes were made. I will start off by saying that this cake involves a lot of work. You have to be really invested in such a cake in order to execute every single element. Having said that, it is a very fun cake to make. This cake is also loaded with a lot of tutorials. I will be providing links below for these tutorials.

THE PROCESS:

(1) First, make all the fondant toppers and elements.

(2) Drape two cake boards with blue fondant.

(3) Drape both tiers with brown fondant. Roll out 3 strips of blue fondant of various heights and wrap around each cake. The first and tallest strip should be lighter in color than the next two. Fluff out the tops of the strips so they look wavy. You can use your fingers to do this.

(4) Stick the names on both tiers.

(5) Stick the water plants.

(6) Insert dry fondant panels on top of the cakes. These will be used to support the toppers. Stick the toppers to these panels.

(7) Stick the grass in front of the topper. Also stick Skully on the edge of the right cake. There is a small panel supporting him behind.

(8) Stick both cakes on the prepared cake boards.

(9) Stick all the other elements on the cake boards aside from the ship. That should be placed in the middle of both cakes after the cake has been set up. That’s all there is to it. Happy caking!
