TOOLS:

(1) Wood Grain Mold (Optional)

(2) Pain Brush

(3) Pizza Wheel Cutter/Sharp Blade

(4) Thick Floral Wires

(5) Stitching Wheel/Embosser

EDIBLE COMPONENTS:

(1) Fondant

(2) Color Pastes

(3) Water

(4) Vodka

(5) Melted White Chocolate

TUTORIALS:

Cross:

(1) To make cross, color fondant brown, roll it out into about 5 mm thickness and press the wood grain mold into it. This mold can be purchased online on Ebay, Amazon or other cake decorating websites.  You can use the fondant as it if you do not have the wood grain mold.

(2) Cut out the fondant into two 1 inch strips for the crossbar and the shaft. The shaft should be longer than the crossbar. Stick thick floral wires into the base of the shaft and leave these to dry for about 48 hours. After they have dried, stick the crossbar on the shaft using melted white chocolate and brush the entire cross with vodka for shine. You can finish the cross with whatever details you like.

Bible:

(1) Color fondant blue (or whatever color you like) and roll it out. Cut it into a rectangle long enough to cover both the front, side and back of the bible. Run a stitching wheel/embosser along all the sides of the rectangle, both front and back. This would be the bible cover.

(2) Roll out a thick slab of white fondant about 2/3 of an inch thick and cut it into a rectangle. The rectangle should be small enough to fit into the bible cover with about 5 mm of the cover sticking out on all sides. Use a fondant wheel to make lines on the sides of the white fondant to resemble leaves.

(3) Brush the blue cover with a bit of water, place the white fondant on one side of the blue cover and fold the other side over it to form the bible. Brush the bible cover with vodka for shine.

(4) Finish the bible look with designs such as a small cross, words like “Holy Bible” and a page separator. If making a page separator, cut out the fondant and insert a floral wire into it. Insert the exposed part of the floral wire into the bible while it is still soft.

(5) Leave the bible to dry a bit before transferring it to the top of the cake along with the cross. Use melted white chocolate to stick the bible to the cake and insert the floral wires into the cake for the cross. That’s all there is to it. Happy caking!
